Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for Kano state, Musa A  Lawan has said that there is no substantial evidence to link the House Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa with the killings and violence that took place in his TudunWada/Doguwa federal constituency during the February 25th, 2023 National Assembly election.

The Attorney General at a media briefing held in Kano State north Western Nigeria said that based on the report and analysis of the case diaries from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution and the Nigerian Police, the ministry is of the opinion that there are no substantial evidences to press charges of criminal conspiracy, mischief by fire and culpable Homicide against Ado Doguwa.

He said the statement given by those that testified against him including the medical reports is full of contradictions and cannot be used as evidence before the law.

“The statement of those that implicated him was full of contradictions. And apart from their contradictory statements, we could not find medical evidence to prove that the death of the deceased persons was caused by Alhassan Ado Doguwa,” he said.

“Forensic and ballistic analysis on the gun that was said to have been taken from Doguwa’s police aid and used in shooting the deceased and others indicated that the 15 rounds of ammunition allocated to the orderly were intact in the pistol as such non was discharged.

“Similarly, no dispensed shell was found at the scene of the crime. No bullet was found or recovered from inside the body of the victims either.

“Even the Doctor that signed the medical report said he relied on third-party information from those on duty as he did not make any personal observations before writing and signing the report,” said the AG.

He however said cases will be pressed against eight other accused persons that are still large and being hunted for by the police.

It would be recalled that the House Majority leader Alhassan Ad-Doguwa was arrested, detained and later released on bail on allegations of culpable Homicide after violence broke out in his constituency during the 25th February 2023 general election.
