Customs Seeks Collaboration With Army Against Smuggling, Transborder Crimes

In a move to tackle smuggling and other transborder crimes within its area of Operation, the Area Controller (AC), Nigeria Customs Service, Borno/Yobe Area Command, Comptroller Baffa Musa Dambam called for enhanced collaboration and support from 7 Division Nigerian Army.
The Area Controller made the appeal when he paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Waidi Shaibu at Headquarters 7 Division Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
Foster synergy
Comptroller Dambam stated that the purpose of the visit, was to introduce himself to the GOC as the new AC and to seek for enhanced collaboration with the Division while pledging the commitment of the Command under his leadership to foster synergy and intelligence sharing between the Area Command and the Division.
The GOC 7 Division congratulated Comptroller Dambam on his appointment and assured him of the Division’s commitment to build on the already existing synergy with the Area Command.
General Shaibu thereafter sought for cooperation in the provision of reliable and actionable intelligence reports on the activities of smugglers around the border areas, and on other crimes and criminalities within the general area.
He enjoined the AC and his team to brace up for the joint task of ensuring a successful conduct of the forth coming general elections in Borno State.
Highlights of the visit were the endorsement of the visitors book by the AC, presentation of souvenir, and group photograph.
