The Adamawa State Governor, Amadu Fintiri has declared Wednesday and Thursday, as work-free days for civil servants in the State.
The work free-days was declared to enable the civil servants participate in the ongoing voter registration in the country.
Governor Fintiri who noted that the continuous voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission will be suspended by the end of July, urged civil servants and other residents who have not registered to seize the opportunity of the two day holiday to do so.
NLC Protest
In other news, the nationwide Nigeria Labour Congress protest held in Yola, the Adamawa state capital on Tuesday and Wednesday went on peacefully with the Nigeria Police providing necessary security cover for members.
The protest march was in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Presenting the letter of protest to the state governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the state chairman of NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe said “the prolonged ASUU strike which is over five months now has become a source of great concern to parents.”
Stressing that “NLC and all the organized labour movement in the country is lending its voice to that of the students and parents to tell the Federal government that ” Enough is Enough” that government must see it as a matter of urgency to address this problem.”
“The continuous stay of our children at home does not mean well for our children and the consequences of their stay at home can be better imagined than explain,” Comrade Fashe added.
