Cyber attack hits Beirut International airport
In a sophisticated cyber attack, unidentified perpetrators targeted the display screens at Beirut’s international airport, skilfully manipulating their content to broadcast a politically charged message, as reported by state media on Sunday.
The incident underscores the growing threat of cybercrime in critical infrastructure, raising concerns about the potential implications for aviation security and digital vulnerabilities in sensitive systems.
The compromised screens at Rafic Hariri airport prominently showcased anti-Hezbollah content, disseminating messages vehemently opposing the ongoing conflict in southern Lebanon.
This cyber intrusion not only raises concerns about the security of critical infrastructure but also underscores the potential use of digital platforms for politically motivated messaging and interference.
The screens, originally designated for presenting departure and arrival information, underwent unexpected alterations, transforming into a platform delivering a stark warning directly to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The conveyed message issued a cautionary note, advising against entangling Lebanon in a conflict with Israel. It accused Nasrallah of jeopardizing Lebanon’s stability, emphasizing the potential repercussions and warning of diminishing support should he instigate such a perilous conflict.

As per Lebanon’s official National News Agency, the cyberattack resulted in the disruption of the passenger baggage inspection system, underscoring the far-reaching consequences of the digital intrusion on critical airport operations.
The airport authorities applied alternative plans to ensure the normal operation at the airport, the agency added.
Social media users circulated images and videos showing the screens displaying the logo of “Soldiers of the Lord,” one of the radical Christian groups in Lebanon.
