The newly appointed Board Chairman of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi, Anambra State, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, on Friday, embarked on a tour of the hospital’s facilities to assess ongoing developments and address potential challenges.
Accompanied by a delegation, Dalori expressed his satisfaction with the significant transformation the hospital has undergone under the leadership of Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Joseph Ugboaja.
During the visit, the group explored various key areas, including the impressive 2000-bed capacity facility, a 120-bed Trauma Center, and the recently established Medical Emergency unit, complete with an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a Renal Center.

They also examined the 200-bed Surgery Ward Complex, the Mother and Child Center, and a Multi-Billion Naira Regional Radio-Diagnostic Centre, among other notable parts of the hospital.
Dalori praised Prof. Ugboaja, describing him as a hardworking and results-oriented leader and asserting, “With Prof. Ugboaja at the helm, NAUTH is on track to become the best hospital in Nigeria.”
He committed to gripping his influence to attract additional funding and projects for the hospital, affirming his intentions to prioritize welfare, well-being, and motivation during his tenure as Board Chairman.
In a joint statement, Prof. Ugboaja reflected on the importance of Dalori’s leadership skills, acknowledging his esteemed background as a distinguished administrator, businessman, and political leader.
He stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to realize their shared vision of establishing NAUTH as one of the top healthcare institutions in Nigeria.
The day began with a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Oraifite, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, His Royal Highness Igwe Daniel Udoji, who welcomed the team and offered blessings for their efforts to advance the hospital’s mission. He prayed for the success, protection, and welfare of all staff working tirelessly to enhance the institution’s reputation.

According to CMD Ugboaja, “This tour marks a promising start for Alhaji Dalori as he embarks on his leadership role at NAUTH, reinforcing the dedication to improving healthcare access and quality in Nigeria.”
