Dangote, Others Celebrate Esimone As Public Servant Of 2025

Prominent figures in Nigeria, including industrialist Aliko Dangote, former Vice-Chancellor of Unizik, Prof. J.E. Ahaneku, and Dr. Godwin Maduka, have extended their congratulations to Prof. Charles Esimone on his recognition as Public Servant of the Year.
Prof. Esimone, a distinguished authority in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology, served as the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, until recently.
He received this prestigious accolade during the Anambra Man of the Year (AMTY) Awards ceremony held in Awka recently, acknowledging his exceptional contributions and accomplishments in leading the institution.
During his tenure, Prof. Esimone propelled Nnamdi Azikiwe University from a global ranking of 4,000 to an impressive 1,000, while also securing over $200 million in funding for the university.
In a heartfelt congratulatory note, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, expressed his pride in Prof. Esimone’s achievements, commending his dedication, leadership, and significant contributions to the society.
Prof. Ahaneku, Esimone’s predecessor, praised him for his exceptional service and transformative influence at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Dr. Godwin Maduka, founder of the Las Vegas Pain Institute and former governorship candidate in Anambra State, lauded Esimone as a “global icon.”
He remarked, “Prof. Esimone is an exemplary public servant with an impeccable track record.
He has truly transformed UNIZIK into a world-class institution.”
The award event was held at the Stanel Dome in Awka, attracting a host of dignitaries, including Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Chairman of Keystone Bank; Prof. Joe Ezigbo, Managing Director of Falcon Corporation; and Engr. Barth Nwibe of Segofs Energy Group.
