Dedication. Resilience. These were some of the words of the Flamingoes after they trashed New Zealand 4-0 in their second match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.

Goals from Amina Bello, Miracle Usani, Afolabi Taiwo Tewogbola and Etim Edidiong ensured the Nigerian side can advance to the Quarter-Finals.

Flamingos striker Opeyemi Ajakaye was voted the Player of the Match – and she was truly delighted.

“I dedicate my award to God, my teammates and coaches for an outstanding performance! Our collective effort made the difference today,” she said on twitter.

“Thank you to Nigerians back home for their support. Namaste!”

Team mate Comfort Folorunsho said victory was possible because each squad player was determined to write-off the pain pf losing 2-1 to Germany on Tuesday.

“Determination and focus were the ingredients to our victory today,” she said.

“Time to recover and complete the job. Congratulations to my sister Opeyemi Ajakaye  on the performance!”
