The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has emphasised the need for active collaboration between the Nigerian Armed Forces, security agencies, and citizens to effectively tackle insurgency.
He made this statement at the 6th Annual Security and Emergency Management Awards in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
General Musa highlighted that building lasting peace, security, and progress requires the involvement of all segments of society, achieved through shared expertise, resources, and influence.
“This can only be achieved by integrating our collective expertise, resources and influence of various stakeholders with a view to creating a resilient framework for both security and emergency management strategies through civil-military relations.
“The threats we are facing are not peculiar to Nigeria, not peculiar to the region or Africa which is the whole of humanity that is being threatened. We must all stand and say no to acts of banditry, act of criminality and acts of terrorism,” he said.

He said the Defence headquarters will continue to refine its humanitarian response strategies to bolster its capabilities and provide timely assistance to affected communities across Nigeria.
“We want to assure Nigerians that the Armed Forces are for Nigeria and Nigerians we are here to protect democracy and we will continue to do that,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria and an award recipient at the event, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, commended the Armed Forces for their successes in combating insurgency.
“The success of the Armed Forces of Nigeria will not depend on them alone, it depends on all of us and we must give them our support,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchant Ltd., co-organiser of the awards, Yushau Shuaib, stated that the annual event recognises exceptional contributions to safety, security, and emergency management in Nigeria.
“Our award unit selection process remains rigorous and transparent with our jury that comprises security experts, industry professionals and independent observers ensuring that deserving individuals and organisations are recognised for their exceptional achievement,” he said.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to exceptional individuals across various categories, including individual, special, and group recognition from the Armed Forces.
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndace, received an Award of Excellence for his outstanding contributions.
