Former members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
The endorsement took place at a meeting held in Abuja and convened by former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Al-Makura described President Tinubu as a leader driven by commitment, transparency, and sincerity of purpose, noting that his leadership has demonstrated dedication to the nation’s progress and stability.
He said President Tinubu has come a long way and Nigerians are lucky to have someone who’s properly and fully prepared to lead the country.
“And he has been on this project for decades. And never a time have we had a president who was prepared to lead this country as a project, willingly, to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people.
“We can see the benefits. By virtue of his experience, by virtue of his exposure, and competencies over time, we are lucky to have him as our president. We can see the transformation that is already taking place in various sectors”.
The former Governor said when the present administration took over, Nigerians were in pain, but looking back over the past two and a half years, the problems are gradually fading out.
” And I believe, by the time we approach 2027, this country will be so happy, will be so appreciative that we have a president in Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who is taking the affairs of this country”
He enjoined other members to ensure that they galvanise support in their various constituencies and various areas to ensure the success of President Bola Tinubu come 2027.
Also present was the former Governor of Katsina State, Bello Masari, who told the members that it’s not enough to be in APC, but they must support President Bola Tinubu.
The former National Secretary of the CPC, Mr Bulama Waziri, said the party is ideas-driven, noting that the support given to the party’s former leader, the Late President Muhammadu Buhari, was largely because of his beliefs.
“Our politics is a commitment to a cause that we all believe will make Nigeria better. And we have succeeded, really, in following him to form a broad-based national APC party that has in its hold all Nigerians from every nook and cranny”.
He emphasised that the achievement of the party is not just for President Bola Tinubu, but also for the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
“And this is a great achievement to all of us that we have been able to form a party that is nationally in outlook, a party that is principled, a party that has successfully earned the trust of Nigerians in winning three presidential elections back-to-back.
“Today, a party that is, regardless of our differences, a party that has Nigerians in its fold in every way. In every state, in every ward, in every village in this country. This is a pride to all of us,” he added.
For his part, the Chairman of the Kogi State defunct CPC, who’s also the chairman of the 36 States Chairmen, Alhaji Mabo Kasim, commended President Bola Tinubu for his economic policies, restating that the results are evident.
The stakeholders are expected to meet afterwards to deliberate and come up with a framework ahead of the 2027 general election.
