Delta State Governor Dumps PDP For APC

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has formerly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Report says with this development, all speculation about Governor Oborevwori’s defecting to the APC has been put to rest.

According to the Delta State Commissioner for information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his entire political family, including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa joined the APC.

Announcing the defection in Asaba on Wednesday, Senator James Manager, who addressed the press after a meeting of the PDP stakeholders in Government House said a formal declaration would be made on Monday.

He said that the governor’s defection to the ruling party was for the interest and the overall development of Delta state.

According to Manager, the entire PDP structures in the state had been collapsed to the APC.

Given the current development, Delta State is now an APC state.

Governor Oborevwori emerged victorious in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP platform.

He was received by senior APC officials in what political analysts are already describing as a strategic realignment with significant implications ahead of the 2027 general election.
