Delta State: INEC Assures Voters of Hitch Free Election

In less than 12 hours to the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has assured the people of Delta State of a hitch free election.

The State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Monday Udoh-Tom gave the assurance at the INEC office in Asaba while speaking. With Voice of Nigeria.

Mr Udoh-Tom also said that sensitive materials have been distributed to all polling units across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.

He says, “The commission here in Delta is ready to go; all our sensitive materials are at the urban areas and as I speak, we are moving to deploy the materials to all rural areas across the state. We have put measures in place to ensure we are at all polling units early on Saturday morning.

“Police officers have also been mobilised and deployed. The National Union of Road Transports has been paid to move men and materials to the field. Everything is set for the elections,” he stated.

Mr, Udoh-Tom appealed to voters in the different communities to remain peaceful during the electoral process of voting. He reminded voters that they have a common goal.

“I want to appeal to the communities where we have polling units to also be set for the election by going out to vote peaceful and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner. Whoever emerges winner of the election is from Delta State, he is not a foreigner. Therefore we don’t need to fight and kill ourselves.

“I am pleading with residents to go out tomorrow peacefully with thire PVC as the only weapon,” he added.
