Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has applauded the remarkable rise of Barau Football Club following its promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in just one season.

Speaking during a celebratory event, Senator Barau urged the team to channel dedication, discipline, and hard work toward winning the NPFL trophy.

He described their achievement as historic, noting that, it has brought pride not only to the players but also to Kano State and Nigerian youth at large.
“This success is a victory for the team, for Kano, and for the country’s youth. They have achieved the seemingly impossible, and I cannot thank them enough,” he said.
The Deputy Senate President expressed confidence that the club, given its current quality of players, could reach the continental stage next year.
Senator Barau explained that, the club was established as part of his commitment to tackling youth restiveness and curbing drug abuse and related crimes.
“The aim is to engage our youths positively, giving them a purpose and steering them away from vices such as drug addiction, theft, and robbery that endanger society,” he stated.
Recounting his personal involvement with the team, Barau said he regularly engages with the technical crew before every match, drawing on his own experience as a former football player.
He stressed that passion and dedication are essential to achieving success in any field.
“I’m proud to have you as players of Barau FC. Where there is passion and commitment, success will always follow,” he told the squad, while welcoming new signings and expressing hope they would bring added blessings to the club.
Club President Shawwal Jibrin thanked Senator Barau for founding the team, while Head Coach Ladan Bosun attributed the club’s success to divine grace and the Senator’s support.
Bosun pledged to further improve the team’s performance.
Highlights of the event was presentation to each player with a motorcycle and a ₦500,000 cash gift.
