The National Technical Aid Corps, NTAC has tasked the Sixteen Volunteers deployed to Uganda and Rwanda to be good ambassadors during their service in the host countries.
Director General of NTAC, Mr. Buba Yakubu, made the call in Abuja, during Pre-Departure Orientation Ceremonies, for Technical Aid Corps’ Volunteers sent to Rwanda and Uganda.
Explaining the importance of the mission, Mr Yakubu, said, this is the one of the missions of the Nigerian Foreign Policy Agenda, supporting African Caribbean and Pacific countries through Technical Aid Corps to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic relation with the host countries.
“It means that, Nigeria is living up to expectation and filling gap within African Caribbean and Pacific to cater for and serve in various capacities at their host countries and we are also meeting up with President Bola Tinibu’s Agenda in terms of foreign policy initiative”, The DG explained
DG emphasized that, “President Bola Tinubu since assuming the leadership of Nigeria, has continued to express strong interest in the educational and professional development of all Africans no matter where they may be on the face of the earth“.
Mr Yakubu charged the latest Volunteers to give their best for the service of Nigeria and the development of citizens of their host countries in order to match and even surpass the achievements of those who had before them participated in the 24-month biennial service.
The NTAC, applauded the Federal Government for sustaining the Scheme over the past 37 years, a feat only the developed nations of the world, like the United Kingdom, US., China and Japan, have only been able to sustain.

The DG called on Volunteers to see the opportunity as one to serve their country and humanity, reminding them that they were selected by merit as some of the best crops of professionals in their fields of endeavour.
He encouraged them to see the opportunity as also a privilege, “since thousands of applicants that sought what they now have today were not equally lucky and also assured them of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps’ support at all times, Nigerian Mission in their recipient countries would be there for them for every of their concerns“. “You must, therefore, not take this opportunity for granted. Make sure that you do not drag the name of our dear country or the trust of Mr. President through the mud, humble yourselves; you may be enjoying your big mansions here in a fine environment, but out there, if you are given half a room, please, stay put; this is why it is called a voluntary service “. Director of Programmes at NTAC, Mr Usman Zakari, while presenting the Volunteers to the DG, acknowledging that, the Volunteers selected for mission, had completed all due processes for deployment to Rwanda and Uganda.
Among the Volunteers who expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for finding them worthy to participate in the Scheme, also expressed readiness to do be good Ambassadors in serving their host countries were Mr. Abdul Anakobe Isa,a Professor of Architecture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State, North-Eastern Nigeria, Dr Unwana Macaulay Ekpe,a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering,Akwa Ibom State University,Uyo, South -Eastern Nigeria, well as Professor Jerome Ihuma, a Professor of Ecosystems Management at the Bingham University, Karu, Abuja and Dr. Hafsat Modibbo, a scholar from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, North-Central Nigeria.
