The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibril Baba Ndace, has sought collaboration with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a government-owned news-reporting agency, in a bid to expand its global outreach.
During a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday, Ndace shared plans to broaden VON’s broadcast horizons by partnering with Indonesia, China, Germany, and Portugal to air content in additional languages.
Ndace, who pledged to promote the good image of the country through strategic communication, emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria in the Gulf of Guinea and the need to strengthen global partnerships.
“The primary goal of the visit was to foster collaboration between Voice of Nigeria and the News Agency of Nigeria in promoting the country’s image for economic development.
We are broadcasting in eight different languages presently, and our plan is to expand our reach to Indonesia, China, Germany, and Portugal,” said VON’s Director-General.
Highlighting the existing relationship between NAN and VON, Ndace expressed the intention to restore and strengthen the bond.
He emphasized the need to project President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ despite challenges while highlighting the positive aspects of Nigeria.

In response, Ali Muhammed, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, welcomed the partnership and affirmed his agency’s commitment to contributing to national development and altering global perceptions through effective communication.
“Our support is assured in ensuring Nigeria’s positive image is projected globally.
The present administration is focused, and through effective and strategic communication, we aim to highlight its achievements,” Ali added.
He said the News Agency of Nigeria is also working on reviving regional offices in Africa and other parts of the world to further extend their influence.
The courtesy visit witnessed the attendance of directors from both agencies, who expressed their commitment to adopting necessary measures for promoting peace, unity, and economic development in Nigeria and Africa at large.
