DHQ Joint Integrated Operations Campaign Planning Course begins in Abuja

In an effort to foster Inter agency cooperation and synergy among security services, the Defence Headquarters in collaboration with the British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) began a Joint Integrated Operations Campaign Planning Course for Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and paramilitary establishments.
The two weeks event holding at the Nigerian Army War College, Abuja will enable 45 participants have a broader understanding of joint campaign planning at the operational as well as strategic level.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor who was represented at the occasion by the Director Special Operation Forces, Defense Headquarters Major General Olusegun Adeniyi while addressing the participants said the course is one of the series of United Kingdom continual military support for the Armed forces of Nigeria to be facilitated by the British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT).
The CDS further stated that the course is aimed at developing the capacity of the armed forces of Nigeria and other security agencies on joint campaign planning at the operational and strategic level as well as develop an understanding of the joint and integrated approach to operational level planning process and operational art.
“Further more, it will enhance participants understanding of operational campaign planning process, thus informing the caliber of officers drawn to participate in the course. Therefore, the course is specifically designed for participants who are senior staff trained and possibly possess fellow defense College or equivalent of which such qualification will enable the participants make valuable inputs during the course.
“The inclusion of the state security services and their agencies in this course is to generate a synergy, promote rapport and understanding in roles of campaign planning particularly now that the armed forces of Nigeria is engaged in asymmetric warfare” said the Chief of Defence Staff.
Integrated course training
Earlier, the Director Campaign Planning for the ongoing course, Major General Ehitayo stated that the course is unique in the sense that it is an integrated one.
45 participants were drawn from the armed forces of Nigeria and the Armed forces war colleges, Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of State Security Services, the Civil Defense, Customs, Immigration, Police .
The course is being facilitated by the Defence Headquarters Directorate of Campaign Planing in collaboration with the British Military Advisory and Training Team, BMATT.
The course is aimed at sharing strategic processes and how the processes impact operational plans.
Certification will be issued at the end of the course.
