The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has been commended for organizing a Citizens’ Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security.
The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa gave the commendation at the Summit which held in Abuja, stating that the programme was not only timely, but also well thought out.
She urged the NIPR to use the opportunity provided by the proposed Peace Summit to focus on the Diaspora components particularly the Second and Third Generations Diaspora for nation building.
For his part, President and Chairman of Governing Council, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mukhtar Sirajo said a citizens’ summit was key at the moment to douse the mounting tension across the country supposedly caused by banditry, violence, terrorism, secessionist agenda and many others.
The NIPR President noted that relationships amongst Nigerians have cracked making it impossible to live together in love, peace and harmony.
“This no doubt is considered a huge challenge to the profession”.
“There is need to take innovative, creative, timely and well thought out actions that will provide credible and sustainable solutions to these challenges across the nation“. He said.
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relation is saddled with the responsibility of regulating the practice and profession of Public Relations in Nigeria.
