Nigeria’s Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijjani has clarified his projection for the nation’s digital economy sector saying the industry is to generate $18.3billion in revenue by 2026 contrary to the sum of N18.3billion  reported in some quarters of the Nigerian media.

Tijjani clarified on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council Meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Council Chamber of the State House.

Recall that the Minister gave the projection on Tuesday during a meeting organised Tuesday in Abuja by the Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cybersecurity and the House of Representatives Committee on Digital and Information Communication Technology.

According to Dr Tijjani, “Yes I was misquoted by some media organisations on the projection I made and it is $18.3bn, not N18.3bn, the Ministry has long surpassed the N18.3bn projection so the actual figure is $18.3bn.”
