The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has trained 75 unemployed youths on Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (EDS) under Special Public Works Department (SPWD) in Adamawa state.

Speaking during the orientation ceremony in Yola, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, NDE’s Director-General, appealed to the beneficiaries to take advantage of the training for wealth creation.

Fikpo, who was represented by Malam Mohammed Jimada, the NDE Adamawa state Coordinator, said the training was important for them to succeed in life.
“I am appealing to you to take the training very seriously because it will help you, your family and the community.

“So I want you to be committed and dedicated to this training for you to acquire the skills that will help you and the society,” he said.

Mrs Sakina Muhammad, the Head of Department of SPWD, also called on the beneficiaries to understand that waste-to-wealth was a lucrative venture, hence the need for them to take advantage of the opportunity.

She said that the opportunity was for them to be self reliant and be employers of labour at the end of the training.

Muhammad advised them to concentrate on the training and acquire the skills, rather than the allowance.

The Master Trainer, Mrs Hafsat Sale, encouraged the participants to be champions in protecting the environment for more value at the end of the programme.

“We create value out of the waste we generate in our houses and institutions, and among other places to protect the environment and generate income,” she said.

Mr Godfrey Saleh, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked NDE for the opportunity given them to acquire the skills.

He assured that they would take advantage of the training to impact on their lives, families and respective communities.
