DLD 2024: Nigeria, others discuss innovation in Germany

The Director General of Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, joined other participants in a panel session to discuss innovation at the 2024 Digital Life Design (DLD) Conference in Munich, Germany.

DLD Munich 2024, recognized as Europe’s premier innovation conference, is centered around the theme “Building Innovation Bridges between Africa & Europe.” The conference is taking place at the House of Communication in Munich, Germany, from January 11 to 13.

During the session featuring Leon Reiner (Impact Hub Berlin) and Anna Sophie Herken (GIZ) and moderated by Dr. Inya Lawal of Asend Studios, the DG emphasised the federal government’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment in Nigeria through policies and incentives. He advocated for fostering mutual value creation between Africa and Europe, leveraging the talents of Nigeria and the continent.

The Director-General noted that Africa, with its youthful demographic and an average age of 18, has a significant potential to address talent gaps in Europe. Inuwa also emphasized the substantial market that Africa presents with its population of 1.3 billion.

The continent is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for investment, and the Director-General’s speech underscored the importance of recognizing Africa’s potential for growth and development.
