The Department of State Security has rescued four children that were abducted from Kano state North Western Nigeria and taken to Lagos.

The children were said to have been kidnapped and taken to Lagos South West Nigeria in the last two years, by some yet to be identified persons, before their recovery.

The Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji stated this while handing over the four children to their families at his office in Kano.

He said the act of kidnapping children and taking them away, is an act of criminality to mankind and totally unacceptable.

He said the recovery shows that the Kano state government is firmly rooted to ensure that kids taken from Kano are rescued and reunited with their parents.

“We will keep on tracking information to bring them back. We will make sure we take care of our own in and out of Nigeria,” assured the SSG.

He urged parents, neighbours and all other kindhearted people to work together for this type of evil not to happen again.

He implored them to also report suspicious moves and persons to security operatives, since government cannot do it alone, stressing that the State Governor promised to assist the families so that the rescued Kids can commence schooling promptly.

The rescue and handover was through a combined effort of the DSS, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, and Implementation Committee on Missing persons in Kano state.

Kano state commander, NAPTIP, Barrister Abdulahi Babale said upon receiving the four children ages 12 to 14, the agency through painstaking effort was able to trace their families.

“We will continue to work to ensure that all missing children from Kano are brought back and united with their families, “ said Babale.

The Chairman Implementation Committee on missing persons in Kano, Justice Wada Umar Rano said the effort towards recovery and handing over of the four children is part of the 46 recommendations given to the committee at Inception and “we’re happy to receive the four Kids from DSS and then hand them to NAPTIP and now formally to the SSG for presentation to the families.

He said the committee had earlier recovered and reunited 10 children believed to have been abducted from Kano state and sold in Anambra state but were shocked that none of the Kids belongs to the parents that claimed them in Kano after DNA test.

“None of the Kids, I think about 10 or 11 of them is proved to be our own from Kano state, according to the DNA results

“The 10 kids are currently with the Police in Anambara state, luckily they have not been released to any body,” said Justice Wada.

He appealed to the state government to sponsor another round of the DNA test, for a second expert opinion.
