D’Tigress Defeat Senegal To Reach Women’s AfroBasket Final

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, fought back from 8-points down in the fourth quarter to claim a 75-68 victory against Senegal, reaching the final of the Women’s AfroBasket tournament in spectacular fashion.

Senegal led the match by 8 points going into the fourth quarter, but Nigeria showed why they are the reigning champions on the continent for a decade, coming back to win Senegal by 7 points.

The comeback in the fourth quarter showed great determination from D’Tigress, sealing the win against long time rivals Senegal to qualify for the final.

Ezinne Kalu recorded 19 points, while Promise Amukamara had 16 points and Amy Okonkwo registered 15 points on the way to victory.

D’Tigress are now through to finals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket for the 5th consecutive time after victory against Senegal.

They have not lost a game at the Women’s AfroBasket tournament since 2015, while winning 28 consecutive games in the tournament.
