D’Tigress Set For Olympic Qualifiers In Belgium
Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, are gearing up for a crucial stage in their quest for Olympic glory as they prepare to participate in the qualifiers, which will be held in Antwerp, Belgium.
D’Tigress have been at their training camp in Antwerp, with the qualifiers set to hold from February 8th – 11th, 2024. Their performance in the qualifiers will determine whether they secure a coveted spot at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.
The training is coordinated by the team’s head coach, Rena Wakama, where the team are aiming to pick the sole ticket.
Nigeria will be up against tough opposition like hosts Belgium, USA and Senegal. D’Tigress will play Senegal on Thursday in the opening group game, before taking on USA and Belgium.

“We are facing some formidable opponents on our journey to the Olympics,” D’Tigress’ Lauren Ebo said. “I am confident that our dedicated preparation will lead us to success allowing us to one again make our country proud.”
Ahead of the Olympic Qualifying tournament, Nigeria were placed 12th by FIBA in the Women’s basketball world rankings recently released and 1st in Africa.
