The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, says Nigeria’s presence at the Dubai Airshow 2025 signals its determination to take a front-row seat in global defence technology conversations rather than remain a passive observer.
The minister attended the opening day of the biennial airshow, accompanied by Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff.
The event was declared open by the Emir of Dubai and Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
According to a release signed by the Personal Assistant to the Minister on Media & Publicity, Mati Ali, Minister Badaru led the Nigerian delegation on a guided tour of key facilities and display stands featuring leading aerospace manufacturers.
The Dubai Airshow is considered a premier global platform connecting innovators, political leaders, and defence officials to drive business growth and showcase next-generation aerospace and security solutions.
Nigeria is using the opportunity to highlight its advancements in defence technology and reinforce its commitment to international collaboration.
Badaru’s presence at the event reflects Nigeria’s wider ambition to strengthen partnerships, access modern capabilities, and continue positioning the Armed Forces to respond more effectively to evolving national and regional security challenges.
The visit underscores the country’s resolve to combine strategic diplomacy with technology-driven defence modernisation, ensuring Nigerian troops remain equipped for their roles in safeguarding national unity and sovereignty.
