DUFUHS Holds 4th Matriculation, Commissions Science Laboratory Complex

David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), has held its 4th Matriculation ceremony and commissioned the Science Laboratory Complex.

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Jesse Uneke, disclosed this during the Matriculation Ceremony at Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the State.

 

On the 21st October 2021, the NUC approved a total of Six Faculties with 19 Departments to run 17 programmes including: Medicine & Surgery, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Engineering, Radiography & Radiation Science, Optometry, Microbiology/Parasitology, Public Health, Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Computer Science, Industrial Physics, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics and Biology/Biotechnology

 

On the 18th of December 2021, the University was  enlisted in JAMB admission Portal and by the 24th of January 2022, we commenced full academic activities with a total of 26 students.

 

Since then, the university has experienced unprecedented increase in students admission in our second year and by January 2023, the students’ population had grown to 701 students.
“I am happy to inform you that as of today, the DUFUHS students’ population is 2496 students. We are grateful to God for the increase and also to our esteemed parents for choosing our school for the training of their children.

 

“University Core Values Vision To become a foremost international university reputable for learning, innovation, research, and collaboration, where the highest form of quality manpower development for the health and other related sectors will be achieved.

 

“To serve mankind with the highest form of professionalism, ethics and excellence by training highly qualified health and other related professionals who will work to improve health outcomes, through the provision of high quality, efficient, cost-effective and integrated health services,” he informed.

 

He said that their motto is Excellence, Scholarship and Productivity.

 

“Our overall goal is not only to achieve the reversal on Medical Tourism but also the reversal of Educational Tourism.”

 

He said  the school has achieved this currently.

 

“Our first-year examinations and all university wide courses are computer-based tests (CBT).

 

“All our financial transactions are online and digital,” he added.

 

The highlights of the occasion was the commissioning of ultramodern Science Laboratory Complex by the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike who represented the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru.
