Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles wrapped up their CHAN 2024 campaign with a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Congo, thanks to goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi.
Already eliminated after back-to-back defeats to Senegal and Sudan, the Eagles went into the final group game playing for pride at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania.

The first half ended goalless despite Nigeria’s dominance, but the breakthrough came after the restart when NPFL top scorer Yusuf put the team ahead. Alimi later doubled the advantage to secure the win.
Despite the result, Nigeria exited the tournament in third place with three points, while Congo finished bottom of the group on two points.
