Easter: Defence Corps deploys 1,705 Personnel to Oyo State

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed one thousand seven hundred and five (1705) personnel as Christians celebrate Easter

The Commandant of the NSCDC in Oyo State, Michael Adaralewa, disclosed this during the evaluation of the first quarter security report of all Area Commanders and Divisions in Oyo State, at the Command Headquarters, old Nitel building, Agodi, Ibadan.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Oyo State, Oyindamola Okuneye, revealed that Commandant Adaralewa said the personnel are to monitor churches, motor parks, playing grounds, recreation centers and all Federal and State Government infrastructure, including the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) rights of way.

He assured residents of adequate security before, during and after the Easter celebrations, declaring that the security of lives and property of the citizens of Oyo State is not negotiable.

Commandant Adaralewa informed the heads of all departments and formations in the state that Easter would be celebrated between April 7th and 10th, to mark the end of lent and to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He advised the public to be vigilant and report any unusual movement or gathering in their environment, during the festive period, to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps or other security agencies in the state.

The Commandant also directed the Tactical units as well as the Disaster Management Unit of the State Command to assume strategic positions for timely response to distress/disaster during the festive period.

He admonished all Christians and non-Christians in the state to celebrate with absolute moderation and share love with one another during the Easter festivities.

Adaralewa further enjoined the Christian faithful to reflect on the essence of the death of Jesus Christ, lessons of passion, suffering, forgiveness, and the love of Christ during the Easter celebrations and pray for the unity of the country.
