Ebonyi Government Holds Interactive Meeting Ahead of planned Protest

Ebonyi State Government under has organised a Youth and Stakeholders Interactive Meeting to address the issues affecting the State and Nigeria at large ahead of the planned August 1 nationwide protest.

Governor of the state, Francis Nwifuru informed the Youths that the State is going to empower 20,000 youths with Micro Credit facilities to go into entrepreneurship and to become employers of Labour, thereby curbing hunger in the State and Nigeria at large.

He said the State is aware of the Economic hardship in the Country but “I believe that we can achieve a lot through constructive dialogue and negotiations instead of going into violent protest.”

On his part, the Nigeria Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi said the present Government under the leadership of President Ahmed Tinubu needs the support of Ebonyi instead of protesting against them.

He informed the meeting that Mr. President has approved that all the Local Refineries in Nigeria should be allowed to buy crude oil in Naira.

He also informed that the Nigerian Government has removed import duties on food commodities.

The Former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim, APC State Chairman, Stanley Okoroemegha, and the Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Comrade Chinedu Ogah among others were there in the meeting.

Labour Unions, Women Leaders, Youth Unions, and Students Unions were also present at the interactive session.
