Ebonyi Governor Commends David Umahi University For Academic Excellence

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, has commended the management of the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, for maintaining world-class standards in its academic activities.
The governor made the remarks during the university’s 4th Matriculation Ceremony in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Governor Nwifuru, who was represented by the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike, expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jesse Uneke.
“I want to commend the Vice Chancellor and his wonderful team for ensuring the students are highly organized despite their increasing population.
“I also commend in a very special way our Distinguished Professor Jesse Uneke, the Vice Chancellor, for sustaining the standard of this world-class university,” the governor stated.

The governor urged the newly admitted students to take their studies seriously and strive to be good ambassadors of the institution.
“I want to urge you to work hard while in this great, reputable and world-class university and ensure that you distinguish yourselves as reputable and world-class personalities upon your graduation,” Governor Nwifuru emphasised.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Jesse Uneke, announced that the university has zero tolerance for anti-social behaviours and has sanctioned 14 students for examination fraud, stealing, and poor academic performance. He urged the new students to shun such acts and be good representatives of the institution.
Professor Uneke also revealed that the university’s cancer centre has been fully equipped and has treated over 200 cancer patients from different parts of the country since its inception. He said the official flag-off of the center will take place on March 8th, 2025.
The David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, which started with 26 students in 2021, now has 2,496 students enrolled for the 2024/2025 academic session.
