Mrs Nwifuru disclosed this during the campaign at Enunwovu General Hospital, in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the State.

The theme for this year is “Ending Cervical Cancer Within a Few Generations, With The Goal of Raising Cervical Cancer and HPV Vaccination Awareness.”

She said, “I am greatly delighted to speak to all of us today and raise awareness about a critical issue affecting women worldwide. The month of January is dedicated to cervical cancer awareness, a time when we come together to shed light on this setback, which can be seriously reduced, with increased awareness and preventive measures.

“Globally, cervical cancer is one of the most common ailment among us, women. It affects our lives and families. However, the power to combat this setback lies in education, early detection, and proactive health measures. All of these escape routes are tied to the awareness been created today.

“My foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), has taken up the responsibility of saving our women from this ailment, to ensure that we live healthy lives. In line with our mandate to achieve this, I have organized a screening of 1000 women and more, free of charge

“We will continue to lead the line and support each other as Ebonyi Women. As such, we are here to spread the knowledge about cervical cancer, its causes, risk factors, and preventive measures. We encourage open conversations about women’s health, breaking the silence that often surrounds this topic, because BERWO is always here for us,” he added.

She added that the exercise today is key, because early detection can increase the chances of successful treatment and survival.

“As the First Lady of Ebonyi State, I encourage our women and young ladies to take their health and wellbeing serious, by going for regular cervical cancer screenings. In addition, we all should get vaccinated against human papilloma virus (HPV), which is a major cause of cervical cancer

“As we observe Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, I call on all medical practitioners, stakeholder and traditional rulers to commit ourselves to the cause of educating, advocating, and supporting women’s health. By working together, we can create a world where cervical cancer is not just treatable but preventable.”

Mrs Nwifuru said, “The Government of Ebonyi State led by my darling husband, Mr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is committed to improving the health sector of the State. So, we must use that opportunity to improve our health and wellbeing as women.”

She expressed her gratitude to all healthcare frontliners in Ebonyi State, and those working with BERWO for their sacrifices and commitment to making Ebonyi women the best.
