The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the training of Electoral Officers (EOs), Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) and other state officers on the expansion of Polling Units (PUs) and Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) in Abakaliki the Ebonyi State capital.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, Dr Chukwuemek Joseph Chukwu said the training of State Officers is to equip them on the forthcoming expansion of voters access to polling units, conversion of voting points to polling units and resumption of continuous voters registration.
“The essence of the expansion of voters access, creation of more polling units and voting points is to encourage voters who usually show apathy during election to vote more in 2023 general elections.
“This exercise would reduce the stress of voters entirely. This will equally give those Nigerians who are eligible to register as voters who have attained the age of 18 and above but have not been registered before to do so”. Chukwuemek said.
