In a bid to ensure that the rights of individuals are not infringed on, the Federal Ministry of Justice in Collaboration with the Ebonyi State Government has organized a workshop on the implementation of Sections 29, 30, and 34 of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act of 2015.
The essence of the Workshop is to ensure that human right is respected in all ramifications in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria.
The program was organized for Lawyers, Journalists, and law enforcement Agencies like the Police, and Nigeria Correctional Service among others on the implementation of Justice for all at no cost.
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Prince Lateef Fegbami disclosed this in his address during the event in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The AGF, who was represented by the Director of Federal Justice Reform of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Felix Ota Kojie said no Law enforcement agent should arrest unlawfully or infringe on People’s rights.
He directed that the Commissioner for Police of every State should give quarterly reports to State Attorney Generals to enable them to know the data of people who are congesting Correctional Centers.
He gave the same instruction to Divisional Police Officers to submit monthly reports to Magistrates in their jurisdiction.
The Deputy Governor, Mrs. Patricia Obila, who represented Ebonyi State Governor said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the workshop brings justice for all in Nigeria.
The Attorney General of Ebonyi State, Dr Ben Odoh said Ebonyi State has earlier embarked on the processes of Justice restoration for all.
One of the Legal Consultants who was one of the resource persons, Barrister Joseph Otteh said the judiciary and police must be on alert to deliver justice to all.
