The National Youth Service Corps NYSC in Ebonyi State has called on Corps members who have concluded their one year service to their country to uphold all the Skills they have acquired through NYSC Skill Acquisition programs to help themselves and the country at large.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Mercy Bamai Dawuda stated this during the passing out ceremony of 168, 2020 Batch ‘B’ stream II Corps members in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the State.
Dawuda urged the Corps members to use the Skill to impact positively on their lives and others.
“As you enter into the society for greener pasture, you must teach other youths through the skills you have acquired on how to create wealth with their hands, thereby making money for themselves”, Bamai said.
She advised the Corps members to eschew violence of any kind.
“The NYSC Director General had always advised that all Corps members be of good behaviour and avoid fraudulent acts that can jeopardize their image”, she added.
The State Coordinator added that some Corps members who have passed through the skill acquisition are now good Employers of Labour.
She encouraged them to do the same.
She said “gone are those days when you look at people who are practicing skills as school dropouts”.
Two of the Corps members passing out, Miss Joel Inioluwa Mayowa from Kogi State, North Central Nigeria and Mr Offiong Offiong Itah from Cross River State, Southern Nigeria, thanked God and NYSC for giving them the opportunity to be where they are today.
They prayed for God’s blessings upon NYSC.
