The Governor of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria, Chief Francis Nwifuru has appointed the Former Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Anthony Nwizi as the new Director-General of the State Broadcasting Corporation EBBC.
Comrade Nwizi before this appointment was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology ICT.
His appointment according to the Governor was to make sure that professionalism is maintained as the appointee has been practicing Journalism for decades.
“I have appointed you to go there and revamp the Ebonyi Broadcasting Station, I know that the place has been dilapidated but I have confidence that you are going to revamp the place”
“You must not discriminate among your subordinates, you must show love to one another”
“Am giving you one month to revive the cooperation, you are going to work hard to ensure that the television section is equivalent to other International Television Station”. Nwifuru added.
The Governor directed the new DG to resume duty immediately.
The new Director-General, Comrade Anthony Nwizi while addressing the Staff solicited for their Cooperation.
Nwizi promised to carry everybody along in his administration.
“During my inauguration by the Governor, I was given one month to revive the station in line with international standards and with your cooperation, we are going to deliver on the mandate given to me by His Excellency the Governor”. Nwizi said.
Earlier in his remarks, the immediate past Acting DG of the Corporation, Mr Aha Okike thanked Governor for Appointing their own to head them at that apex capacity.
Also inaugurated was the Executive Secretary Local Government Pension Board, Mr Emeka Nwonu.
The Governor also charged him to ensure that he eliminates corruption in the Board.
