The Management of Ebonyi State College of Education Ikwo in Southeast Nigeria, has pleaded with members of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) to call off their ongoing strike.

The Provost of the College, Professor Benedict Mbam made the appeal during a joint meeting held with relevant Academic and Non-Academic Staff unions amongst other stakeholders.

Professor Mbam who opposed the idea of continuing the strike, called on the concerned staff to see reasons with the State government over the lean resources accruing to the College.

He said, “The Union should consider calling off the Strike for the interest of the School and Students as well”.

Reactions

Union member and Acting Chairman of COEASU, Osmond Oboke reeled out how the State Government had neglected their rights, urging it to use the opportunity offered and negotiate with the union over the lingering issues.
