The Government of Ebonyi State has exonerated the State Chairman of All Progressive Congress APC, Mr. Stanley Okoroemegha, and the Candidate contesting for House of Representatives for Afikpo North and Afikpo South Federal Constituency under the same party Mr. Eni-Uduma China from the killings and destruction of lives and property at Ekoli Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the State.

This was contained in the resolution of the State Executive Council meeting held in Abakaliki the State Capital.

The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Orji Uchenna Orji disclosed this to Journalists while briefing the outcome of the Meeting.

Orji informed that “State Executive Council received a briefing on the police interim report on the ugly incident that happened in Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area and the Governor’s directive on those involved in the unfortunate mayhem that led to the loss of lives. The meeting noted the Police report which revealed that the culprits had been apprehended and would soon be charged in Court. The council however noted the fact that the statements from the suspects did not indict the duo of Hon. Barr. Eni Uduma Chima and Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha of any complicity in the needless attack”

He further informed that the council directed that a Peace and Reconciliation Committee be set up in the afflicted area.

The Committee is made up of the following persons:

Senator Sonny Ogbuoji is the Chairman while Mr. Nkama Nkama Ude is to serve as Secretary.

They were charged to resolve the conflicts between brothers and sisters of Ekolli Edda and institute a permanent spirit of forgiveness and peace among the people of Ekolli Edda and also to make a recommendation to the government on the way forward for peace and love among brothers and sisters of the community.
