The former acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ebonyi State, Ifeanyi Nworie, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC along with his supporters.
Nworie was formally received into the ruling party during a civic reception organised in his honour by the people of Ezza South Local Government Area.
Welcoming the former PDP chieftain, Ebonyi APC Chairman, Stanley Emegha, urged party members to support Governor Francis Nwifuru in his drive to develop the state.
He also disclosed that he had reached out to the 2023 PDP governorship candidate, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, to join forces with the Governor for the progress of Ebony State.
Emegha directed party stakeholders in Ezza South to fully integrate the new entrants into the party structure.
He said the APC remained a disciplined party that would not tolerate internal crises or factionalism.
“The APC is a party of order and progress. We must work together and avoid anything that could create divisions within the party,” he cautioned.
The Chairperson of Ezza South Local Government Area, Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, attributed the increasing defections to Governor Nwifuru’s developmental strides,.
He noted that the Governor’s administration’s achievements have continued to attract members of opposition parties to the APC.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Nworie dismissed speculations that he left the PDP due to internal crises, insisting that his decision was based on his commitment to the state’s progress.
“I am here to contribute to the growth of Ebonyi under the APC. I will not be part of any factionalization, and my goal is to see the APC sweep all elective positions in the 2027 general elections,” he added.
