Ebonyi State Governor Assures NYSC Of Adequate Security

The Governor of of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, Mr Francis Nwifuru has promised the National Youth Service Corps in the State adequate welfare and security.

The Governor who was represented by the Director of Youths in the State Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Lawrence Orji made this pledge at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old  MacGregor College Afikpo Local Government Area of the State during the swearing-in -ceremony of the 2024 batch ‘C‘ stream ‘1’ Corps Members deployed to the State.

He said, “On behalf of the good and hardworking people of Ebonyi State, the Salt of the Nation. I warmly congratulate you on the successful completion of your various academic pursuits which qualified you for call up to service, the midnight candle you burnt did not go unnoticed, and all glory to the Almighty God for seeing you through”

“The People’s Charter of Needs programme of my administration will always permit you to contribute your quota to the development of Ebonyi State as you aspire to write your name in the sands of time and the hearts of our people. Our administration will continue to discharge its statutory role of providing adequate security and welfare needs of yours as well as the enabling environments for you to operate optimally”, he added.

The NYSC  State Coordinator, Mrs Oladeinde Foluke said the Orientation Course which is the first of the four cardinal programmes of the scheme has been packaged to include Para-military drills, Lectures, Skill Acquisition Training, Sports and Social activities, all geared towards equipping the Corps participants to meet the challenges of the service year.

  “Distinguished guests, a total of 968 Prospective Corps Members were deployed to Ebonyi State, and have been duly registered, made up of 460 males and 508 females so far, the Corps Members have demonstrated a high sense of discipline, dedication and willingness to learn”, she explained.

She said that they have also shown great enthusiasm and have been responding satisfactorily to the regimented nature of the camp, which she considers as initial evidence of their determination to succeed in the programme.
