By Moses Nwite, Abakaliki
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru has embarked on a reconciliation process as he begged the former gubernatorial Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Obinna Ogba to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This is to ensure that there is peace and tranquility in Ebonyi State and to also unite all stakeholders.
Governor Nwifuru made this move when he was addressing stakeholders during the commissioning of Legacy FM and Television built by the former senator, Ogba, Ebonyi Central senatorial zone in the 8th and 9th National Assembly.
Nwifuru said “You should announce to us here that you are joining our Party, APC, to confirm what we have been seeing on the social media, but I don’t want what surprised you to surprise me too.
“I’m still hoping that when you will be making your speeches during the launch, such a statement will come from you,” Nwifuru said.
The Governor also urged the former deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Obasi Odefa, and some other members- Oliver Osi and Ali Okechukwu to join the APC.
“When you see a good product, go for it. Ogba is a good product for APC and as a leader of the Party, APC, I go for it”. Nwifuru stated.
The Governor further applauded Senator Ogba for the massive support and contributions given to him during the 2023 general election, which led to his victory and emergence as the governor of Ebonyi State.
It would be recalled that Nwifuru has started this reconciliation process even before he became the Governor as he was able to attract the support of the former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim and the entire PDP supporters from Ebonyi South Zone two days before 2023 Governorship election.
The Support of Anyim shook the entire State which led to one of the mechanisms that led to the victory of Nwifuru.
In a remark, Senator Ogba extolled the Governor for honouring his invitation and commissioning the radio station.
“The wooing to join APC, is a story for another day. He is lobbying me to come and that’s part of politics. In politics you lobby, it is the legislators’ duty to lobby and he was a speaker for eight years,” Ogba informed.
