Ebonyi state offers free Medical treatment to Nigerians

The Ebonyi State Government in South East Nigeria, has announced free Medical treatment nationwide for two month for the state of the art King David Medical University Sciences build by the current administration under the leadership of David Umahi.

The modern international standard medical facility has been taken over by the federal government of Nigeria at the request of the State Government.

This was made known when members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, paid a courtesy call on the Governor, Mr. David Umahi in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

“The free medical treatment at the University will commence by the end of July 2022.

“The State government has offered scholarships to students from the 36 States of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja for the first admission in the multi-billion Medical Science University with six students per State. The State was doing the same thing in the second admission of students of the University,” Umahi added.

COMPLETION OF PROJECTS

The Governor said he was doing everything possible to complete few projects that has not been completed before he bows out of office in 2023.

“The Amasiri flyover is going to be done in the next two months. The Airport, by the end of August, we should be expecting the first flight in that Airport. The King David University, by the end of July, the free medical treatment which we are offering to the entire nation for the next two months will be on.

“We have offered scholarships for the 36 States and FCT in our fist admission 6 per State for one year free of charge. So, we have a number of students all over the country that we are doing the same thing for the second year admission and we also have free medical lab examination.

“So, you can do your total medical evaluation in that King David Medical University from the 1st day of June 2022 and is going to run for three months. And so, the job that may be remaining, will be the Olympic Stadium because it has to be the best in this country but I would have done that job up to 70%,” he noted.

The Governor explained that the project that he is likely to handover to his predecessor would be the Stadium next year.

He noted that only axillary areas of the works in the stadium that would be left for its completion which he classified to be about 30%.

“So of course there will be a contract. What else will be remaining will be will be a portion of Abakaliki-Enugu dualization, there will be about 15km that will be left.

“I am dualizing the boundary to Nkalagu, I am dualizing from Abakaliki to Ezzamgbo 135. So, there will some portion that will be left in between, about 15km. I will award it and mobilize it before I leave. There will also be a portion of Abakaliki to Afikpo. This is about 100kms of road and before I leave, it will be left about 40kms which will be basically from Abaomege down to Afikpo and I will also award it and commit a mobilization there. The Ala Hausa flyover that is moving day and night will be completed, the Nkalagu flyover is done, its just the axillary works. So, I know local government jobs that are ongoing but the jobs are giving to the local government Chairmen and they will fund them from our finances,” he said.

The members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors also went on facilities tour of the State and were able to see all the project mentioned by the governor under the leadership of the Guilds’ National President, Mr. Mustapha Isa.

The NGE President who commended the quality of work done in the State urge other States in Nigeria to emulate the wonder government and tremendous infrastructure development in Ebonyi State.
