The Ebonyi State Government has signed into law the autonomy  of Legislature, Judiciary and that of the Law on prohibition of  Cyber crimes.

This would ensure that there are  full separation of powers in each of the arms of the Government and to checkmate hate speeches in the State.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barrister Orji Uchenna disclosed this to Journalists after the Executive Council Meeting in Abakaliki the State Capital.

Barrister Orji said the laws were received and assented into law after they were passed  by Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

“We are proud of our Governor Engr David Umahi because Ebonyi State is the first to have law backing the autonomy  of Legislature  and Judiciary”

“The law backing the autonomy of Legislature is called Ebonyi State Legislative fund law number 0092021. Also that of the Judiciary is called Ebonyi State Judiciary Fund Management Law number 0102021, all  to support the yearnings of the public who are calling for the autonomy of each arm of the Government,” Orji explained.

The Commissioner further said that the Law on prohibition of Cyber crime has also come into existence in the State.

He said, “This Particular Law would go a long way to curtail Cybercrimes, hate speeches and others related offences”.

He called on all Ebonyi people both at home and Diaspora to continue to support the leadership of the State to achieve more for its citizenry.
