The Executive Council of Ebonyi State Government has approved the Ministry of Skill Development and Job Creation’s proposal to train 100 Ebonyi State youths in electrical maintenance and installations.
This initiative is a collaboration with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and aligns with the state government’s human capital development policies. The training will be overseen by Deputy Governor Mrs. Patricia Obila.
The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr Jude Okpor disclosed this during the Press briefing on the outcome of the last EXCO meeting held at the New EXCO Chambers at New Government House Abakaliki the State Capital.
Engr Okpor said that the Governor is determined to invest in the youths of the State to forestall poverty in the future.
INFRASTRUCTURE
He said, that given the high premium the present administration placed in the provision of basic infrastructures across the State, the council approved the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) for the following projects and further directed the State Council for Public Procurement to advertise and award.
“The projects are the Construction of a three-span Bridge (45 meters) with two box culverts at Ike River, Amaeke in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area. Construction of Amaeke-Ike River Road (4km), Ishiagu in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State. Construction of the 4.0km Ekwetekwe/Ogbuinyagu – Umuezkoka Road
Construction of the three-span bridge (45 metres) across Akadoro River, Alubeleke, Umuezeoka, Ezza North LGA”, he added.
The Commissioner informed that all these are geared towards opening the road networks in rural areas for easy transportation of farm produce.
RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Moreover, the Commissioner added that “Sequel to the number of lives lost almost daily at the Eke-Imoha market, especially on Eke market days, the State Executive Council approved the construction of a pedestrian bridge to forestall further loss of lives in the area”.
