The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Governor AbdulRazaq made this known through a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the State capital, on Monday.

He eulogized the capacity and capability of President Tinubu in being able to direct the affairs of the sub-regional states in the continent of Africa.

The Governor noted that the Heads of Member States saw the qualities the Nigerian President carries and believes he will be able to lead and progressively provide the needed leadership, capable of ensuring lasting peace in the region.

The NGF Chairman stated that, “On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), I congratulate His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). President Tinubu’s unanimous endorsement by his colleagues at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, underscores the confidence they have in him to provide progressive leadership for the regional organisation and introduce game-changing policies.

He further stated that, “We believe Mr. President will justify the confidence reposed in him, given his antecedents as a time-tested leader. With his wealth of experience in both private and public sectors, we have no doubt that the West African leaders have made the right choice.

Governor AbdulRazaq, therefore, urged all stakeholders to cooperate with President Tinubu on this significant responsibility to place West Africa on the global map.

It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unanimously endorsed by Presidents of other West African countries to lead the sub-regional organisation (ECOWAS) as Chairman, during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government, held in Bissau, the capital city of Guinea-Bissau, on Sunday.
