The ECOWAS Community Court of Justice has launched the 2026-2030 Strategic Plans aimed at improving the dispensation of administration of Justice within the member States.
The President of the community Court, Justice Ricardo Goncalves said the Court would implement all the strategic Plans within the member States.
Justice Goncalves said “it is a clear affirmation of the Court’s collective resolve to strengthen the role of the Court as a guarantor of the rule of law, a promoter of justice, and a vital pillar of regional integration in West Africa”.
He said that the Plan is not a mere technical document but a shared vision and concrete commitment to institutional transformation, to efficiency, and to making a real impact on the lives of the citizens of our Community
“The Strategic Plan therefore calls for a new way of working: greater coordination; stronger accountability; a sharper focus on measurable results; and, above all, a stronger collective commitment,” Justice Goncalves stated.

The President of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Court of Justice believed that the Court is ushering in a new chapter in the advancement of the ECOWAS Court of Justice as a leading institution, serving community justice, stability, and regional integration.
Similarly, the Acting Deputy Chief Registrar of the ECOWAS community Court of Justice, Madam Marie Saine, said the ECOWAS Court of Justice has, since its inception, been entrusted with a noble mandate, to safeguard the rule of law, to protect human rights, and to serve as the judicial pillar of the regional integration project.
Madam Saine also said that “the strategic Plan 2026-2030 is the product of rigorous reflection, inclusive consultation and forward looking analysis”.
“The ECOWAS community Court of Justice has set out road map that is both ambitious and pragmatic goals which included: guarantee timely and impartial Justice, Expand access to Justice, legal empowerment and Alternative Dispute Resolution, advance regional integration, Human Rights protection and legal harmonisation, ensure transparency, stakeholder engagement and strategic accountability as well as strengthening institutional capacity, Governance and resource management” she added.
The Acting Deputy Chief Registrar of the ECOWAS community Court of Justice, said that the strategic goals focus on five priorities for the Court which are enhancing access to Justice, strengthening protection of human Rights, embracing digital transformation of the Court, strengthening institutional capacity and deepening partnerships and resource mobilisation.
The Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Mrs Memounatou Ibrahima, said as the Court embarks on the implementation phase of the strategic plan, the ECOWAS Parliament is confident that it will translate its vision into tangible outcomes that will positively impact on the lives of the ECOWAS community citizens.
Mrs Ibrahima who was represented by a member of the Parliament, Mr. Suleiman Gumi, said that the ECOWAS Parliament stands ready to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen institutional synergy, enhanced legal frameworks and promote accountability within the community.
