ECOWAS Defence Chief Reaffirms Team Work TO Tackle Insecurity

The ECOWAS Committee of Chief of Defence Staff has agreed on the need for team work to be able to tackle the security threat facing the West African region.
The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the 42 Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS committee of Chief of Defence Staff in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The Defence Chief who is the Chairman of the occasion said that no one nation can withstand the current challenges as they are stronger together.
The Defence Chief said that “for the past three days, they have been filled with essential presentations, engaging discussions, and exceptional networking opportunities, adding that there are also a lot of new ideas and passion objectively better solutions that will define the spiritual landscape of West Africa as they active participation towards enhancing overall security situation of the region and the discussion during this conference for that it was easy supporting solutions and the observation was conveyed”.
According to him, they deliberated on issues pertaining the operationalization and their support the ratio amongst others in all of their deliberations, the importance of their collective effort and shared commitment, wave whatever is made by Member States commitment or resources for that traditionally, it was complex, security support, they showed their commitment to reflect reality and will require their words to be backed by action.
“Nevertheless, I have no doubt in my mind that we will not renew on our promises. I’m confident that incredible ideas and overall solution providing enhanced our individual or collective capacity for more contemporary challenges will regret the absence of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger during the meeting but their flags were flying showing they are not in enmity as the whole world seen”, he said.
He urged them to continue collaboration effectively to address the emerging threats.
The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, ECOWAS, Abdel-Fatau Musah said that “the meeting gave them the opportunity to wake up modalities for confronting this security threat in the region”.
According to hum, the meeting gave them the opportunity also to reaffirm their commitment to the fight against terrorism that’s more respectful and no one can do it alone.
“And so in our unique lies our strength and that is why we are here, to facilitate the meeting of this committee of defense use of defense”, he added.
He noted that one of the key items of the agenda is the continuous integration of the equals sum by force in this dynamic mode, to find in our return on all their members, support to this initiative on this committee, again, fine tuning that roadmap for was a ventral activation of the kind that they need to fight terrorism in the region’
“And you can see moving downward from this in the past few weeks, we’ve had at least about We’ve had quote incursions into the coastal countries of any so nobody is sort of safe from terrorists”, he added.
He said “good governance, Democracy and Security are what is required to move the West African Region forward”.
He expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian President who is the Chairman of ECOWAS and he graciously provided them all the facilities to make sure that we have very fruitful, comfortable deliberations.
“And once again, Nigeria, has demonstrated this commitment, you know, to West Africa’s integrity, West Africa’s governance processes and West Africa security”, he said.
