ECOWAS Recommits to implementation of Monetary Cooperation Programme

The ECOWAS Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Mrs. Massandjé Toure-Litse, has affirmed the ECOWAS Commission commitment to working with regional institutions and Member States in the implementation of the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Programme.

The Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture stated this at the statutory meetings of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) and West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ), in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Speaking during the meeting of the Committee of Governors of the Central Banks, Mrs. Toure-Litse, disclosed the ECOWAS Commission is readiness to ensure coordination and collaboration with all the stakeholders involved in the implementation of the ECOWAS monetary cooperation programme.

The Commissioner further stressed on the need for Member States to intensify their efforts to harmonise their regulatory frameworks, improve the quality of statistical data and strengthen evaluation mechanisms.

On the sidelines of the statutory meetings, the Commissioner, was accompanied by her team and Mr. HAROUNA Moussa, ECOWAS Permanent Representative to Sierra Leone.
