The Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) has commended the Kogi State Government for its outstanding achievements in the state’s sector.
A member of the guild, Adebayo Bodurin, gave the commendations on Saturday in Lokoja, shortly after a tour of GYB Model Secondary School, Adankolo, Lokoja, by members of the NGE.
The NGE held its NEC meeting in Lokoja on Saturday, February 24.
Bodurin, who was highly elated with the structure put in place at the school, praised the government for providing an enabling environment for learning and teaching.
With this, he said the Kogi State Government is setting the pace to be the educational hub of the country.
The journalists asserted that, with the laudable educational structure that spreads across the three senatorial districts, the future of Nigeria is in the safe hands of competent, reliable and knowledgeable leaders for a better tomorrow.
“I believe in education, that is where the future of the country is. When we have educated people, we will know how to solve our problems.
“This is a good initiative. I am happy the government said they have four of these in other senatorial districts.
“I do hope that each local government in Kogi State will have structures of this nature and Kogi will be at the forefront of producing future scientists and technologists that will help the country be less dependent on other nations,” he stated.
He, however, commended the remarkable transformation of Kogi State under former Governor Yahaya Bello, urging his predecessor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to sustain and continue with the tempo of development seen by the NGE.
Earlier, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo conducted members of the NGE Guild round at the GYB Model Secondary School in Adankolo and the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja.
Fanwo explained that the immediate past administration has achieved a lot in the state within the available resources.
He assured that the administration of Alhaji Usman Ododo is set to consolidate and continue with the good works of the previous administration.
