Edo Guber Primary: Ex-presidential Aspirant Advises APC
A former All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential aspirant, Stanley Osifo has advised the leadership of the party to do all its best to ensure a peaceful governorship primary in Edo state.
The governorship election in the state is scheduled to hold on September 21, 2024.
In a statement issued in Lagos, Osifo said a peaceful primary was key to the success of the party at the governorship election.
“All hands must be on deck for the conduct of a credible and peaceful Edo guber primary because this would engender a peaceful atmosphere which is a prelude to possible victory in the election.
“I call on all stakeholders, including aspirants and other members, to make sure that we achieve a peaceful primary, because that would make or mar the party during the contest’’, he said.
Osifo advised party stakeholders to follow established guidelines for the exercise and support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate at the primary.
Osifo also tasked the party on a formidable campaign, saying it was imperative to guarantee the party’s victory on Sept.21.
“Any aspirant who eventually emerges as the APC standard bearer must be magnanimous in victory so that others can join hands with him during the main election,” Osifo said.
He suggested that the party should come up with an arrangement to accommodate all aspirants after the primary ,and should discourage contestants from challenging the outcome of the exercise.
“APC is one step ahead of reclaiming Edo. Every supporter of the party must make it a point of duty to ensure a peaceful and acceptable conduct, because that is one very important action for us to return to power.
“APC remains a party to beat because we have all it takes to provide good governance and development in Edo.
“The indicators of past delivery of good governance by APC are multifaceted and still available for reference,’’ he said.
Report says 12 governorship aspirants had already purchased forms for the party’s primary election, slated for Feb.16
