Edo Poll: APC Urges Electorate to Disregard False Election Results

The governing All Progressives Congress, APC, says it has noted the circulation of false vote tallies on social media by certain political parties during the Edo State Gubernatorial Election in Southern Nigeria.

The Party’s National Publicity Secretary in a statement, Felix Morka urged voters and the public to ignore these misleading reports.

He further said: “Consistent with the Electoral Act, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the sole authorised body empowered to collate results at the Ward, Local Government and State levels, and to officially declare the result of the Election.

“Our great Party is comfortably in an early lead, however, as a responsible Party, we will not attempt to preempt INEC’s conclusion of the election process and official declaration of final results, ” Mr. Morka stated.

The Party’s National Publicity Secretary urged the public to disregard these misrepresentations and wait for INEC’s official results.
