Residents of Benin City, Edo State queued up at ATM points of some commercial Banks to access cash in the early hours of election day.

Our correspondent who monitored the elections in the city observed that a sizable number of people of voting age were busy withdrawing cash at the ATMs rather than perform their Civic duties.

Many of them told our correspondent that the prevailing cash crunch in the country coupled with the need to meet their financial obligations necessitated their actions.

Meanwhile, accreditation and voting commenced late in some parts of the State capital, Benin due to the late arrival of INEC officials.

At Imaguero college polling center,  INEC officials arrived at about 9:33am. The same thing oçcurred at some poling units along First East Circular Road.

However, security agents were at the various polling stations as early as 7:30am.
