Education Minister Sympathises With Victims Of Plateau Building Collapse

The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has conveyed his condolences regarding the distressing collapse of the Saints Academy building in Plateau State, located in North Central Nigeria.

The Minister in a statement said the death of the school children was a collective loss to the nation.

“It is with deep sorrow that we received the devastating news of the collapsed building in Saints Academy, Busa Buji in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which occurred during School hours when classes were in session. 

“The entire Federal Ministry of Education feels a sense of collective loss and sorrow over the death of these young ones especially occurring when they were writing Exams meant to advance their level of education,” said Professor Mamman.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the bereaved families, the families of all the injured victims and the entire people of Plateau State.”

The Minister urged the relevant government agencies to provide necessary support to the survivors.

He emphasized the significance of constructing robust and secure building infrastructures, stressing that ensuring structural stability is crucial to avert similar tragic occurrences in the future.

The Minister pledged to support the families and communities affected by the calamity. 

The incident occurred during school hours on Friday around 8:30 a.m., when Students were engaged in their third-term examinations.
